Smart Artz launched in August 2007 in a stunning converted warehouse in South Melbourne.
Owners Sharon Dawson and Di Bartholomeusz wanted to create a space unlike any other: an art gallery where Melbourne's most exciting emerging artists could show their work, and an edgy, contemporary, versatile venue for functions.
As both gallery and function venue, we offer special benefits to artists, and a refreshing option for function organisers.
Artists know their work will be seen repeatedly by large groups of people, rather than just opening night guests and the occasional walk-in visitor. And our catering expertise means they can enjoy more than wine and cheese at their openings!
Function organisers, on the other hand, can ensure their guests have a memorable time surrounded by exciting contemporary art, with top-quality catering and a versatile space that can be used for functions big and small.

In July this year we launched our latest design collection at SmartArtz gallery. Di & Sharon were brilliant to deal with, they had fabulous suggestions for how we could best display our new range and nothing was too much trouble.
